U.S. Venceremos Brigade Issues Declaration in Solidarity with Cuba

Havana, July 24 (acn) The 38th contingent of the U.S. Venceremos 
Brigade in solidarity with Cuba has issued a declaration expressing 
their support of the Cuban Revolution and condemning Washington's 
blockade against the island.

"We are united in our belief that Cuba is living proof that another 
world is possible and that another United States is necessary," reads 
the document presented at the International Press Center during a press 
conference in Havana on Monday.

"We know that the Bush administration, through its so-called Commission 
for the Transition to Democracy, also known as "Plan Bush", is 
increasing its efforts to undermine the Cuban government. Our 
responsibility is to stand up against this madness," the declaration 
adds.

The text also condemns the incarceration in the United States of "five 
Cubans whose work against terrorism saved the lives of both U.S. and 
Cuban citizens."

"We will defy the blockade. We will continue to demand an end to the 
U.S. media silence on the imprisonment of the Cuban Five. We will 
return home to share the beauty of what we have seen. We will speak to 
the people in the United States who have no health insurance and are 
not afforded other basic human rights that are provided by the Cuban 
Revolution," the document concludes.
