Forum of Sao Paulo Supports Cuban People and Government

Havana, July 24 (acn) Representatives of 19 political organizations 
from 13 countries expressed their support of the Cuban people and 
government and condemned the U.S.'s blockade against the island during 
a two-day meeting held in Managua, Nicaragua.

According to Prensa Latina news agency, participants in the meeting, 
all members of the Forum of Sao Paulo, also demanded the release of the 
five Cuban political prisoners who remain in U.S. jails for fighting 
terrorism.

They also condemned the release in the United States of international 
terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, mastermind and perpetrator of many 
terrorist crimes against the Cuban people.

The final declaration of the meeting also thanked Cuban President Fidel 
Castro and Vice President Raúl Castro for their examples of dignity, 
humanism, internationalist solidarity and their contribution to the 
peoples' integration.

They also expressed their solidarity with the Puerto Rican people's 
struggle for independence and condemn the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

It was also announced that the next meeting of the Forum of Sao Paulo, 
which brings together leftist organizations from Latin America, will 
take place during the first quarter of 2008.

The meeting was closed by Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega.
