South American Political Organizations In Support of Cuba
Havana, Jul 23 (acn) Representatives of more than 19 political
organizations gathered in Managua, Nicaragua, to pass an agreement
expressing their full support for the Cuban people and government and
their opposition to the US government's economic blockade against the
island.
The members of the Sao Paulo Forum held a two-day meeting in the
Nicaraguan capital, where they also demanded the release from jail of
the five Cubans who have been unfairly imprisoned in the US for nearly
nine years, reported PL news agency.
Activists also condemned the release of terrorist Luis Posada Carriles,
who masterminded several crimes against Cuba.
The statement thanked Cuban President Fidel Castro and the First Vice
President Raul Castro for their support of the integration of Latin
American nations.
Likewise, participants showed their solidarity with the Puerto Rican
struggle for independence, as well with the social movements in Oaxaca,
Mexico.
The venue for the next plenary session of the Sao Paulo Forum, grouping
left political organizations of South America, will be Montevideo,
Uruguay in early 2008.
