Help take the next step toward an LA City Council resolution urging the
rapid withdrawal of US troops from Iraq. We have drafted a resolution, and
several people have volunteered to take the lead in organizing support in
their communities. Our objective is to have groups in all council districts
that are calling, writing, and visiting their representatives, making it
abundantly clear that constituents want the City Council to pass this
resolution.

Don't let your frustration with Congress's inactivity deter you. As
Jackie Goldberg has said, if we allow ourselves to become cynical, to
stop struggling for what we want, then they will win. Now, more than
ever, it is crucial to build the political power necessary to end the
war. Your participation will make a difference.

With a relatively modest effort, we can amplify the voices of LA's opponents
to the war by giving those voices the added authority of a city council
resolution. Passage of the resolution will legitimize and reinforce public
opinion against the war, and it will inform national representatives that
opponents to the war are building significant political power.
