Community Computer Centers for the Blind to Be Created in Cuba

Havana, Aug 15 (acn) A network of community computer centers for the 
visually impaired is being created in several Cuban provinces.

Financed by the Spanish National Organization for the Blind for Latin 
America, the project will have two centers in the city of Havana, and 
one in the provinces of Havana, Matanzas and Villa Clara.

Roberto Perez de Paz told the Cuban News Agency that thanks to the 
project, visually impaired people will have increased access to 
computers using the JAWS software, a screen reader program that 
transmits written material on the screen out loud.

Perez de Paz said that they hope to extend the project countrywide.
