Bolivia Provides Convincing Evidence of Opposition Maneuvers

La Paz, Aug 25 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivian government presented this
week convincing accusations against opposition groups after violent
actions in the southern city of Sucre, to hinder the Constituent
Assembly.

According to Interior Minister Alfredo Rada, the demand to assemble
executive and legislative powers in that city, venue of the forum, is
no more than a pretext to destabilize the country.

Rada told Prensa Latina that the strike announced for August 28 in six
departments for the so-called Inter-institutional Committee also has
political purposes and tries to discredit the Morales government.

Another illegitimate argument is the defense of four judges from the
Constitutional Court that the deputy chamber decided to try by majority.

The top official recalled that three of those lawyers were elected on
October 3, 2003, days before the military repression ordered by former
President Gonzalo Sanchez de Lozada that left 67 people dead and dozens
of injured.

According to his assessment, if that cannot be now, it will be later,
but the process of the Constituent Assembly, as a democratic stage to
build a new Bolivian State without exclusions, is still in force.
