New Book on Che Gevara Launched in Argentina
Havana, August 27 (acn) A book that reviews the events that led to the
assassination of legendary guerrilla fighter Ernesto Che Guevara in
October 1968 has been launched at the 9th International Book Fair
underway in Rosario, Argentina.
The book was written by Cubans Adys Cupull and Froilan Gonzalez, and
was printed at the Ochenta publishing house as part of a number of
editorial initiatives undertaken by the Argentinean movement in
solidarity with the island, pointed out Miguel Ferrari, director of the
publishing house.
The Cuban ambassador to Argentina, Aramis Fuente, noted the climate of
friendship between the two nations at the fair and stressed the
necessity of joining efforts to undertake international activities in
commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Che Guevara's death in 2008.
Fuente, who heads the Cuban delegation at the event, said Rosario will
have the have the honor of erecting the first monument in remembrance
of Che Guevara in Argentina. The statue has been financed by thousands
of people who have donated bronze items for its construction.
The event was also attended by the governor of Santa Fe province,
Jorge Obeid, and the mayor of Rosario, Miguel Lifschitz.
