Cuban Doctors Attend Health Fair in Bolivia
Havana, Aug 27 (acn) As part of the Operation Miracle eye-treatment
program, Cuban doctors who are doing humanitarian medical service in
Bolivia attended a health fair held in the Bolivian municipality of El
Alto.
The Cuban doctors working in El Alto are mainly focused on registering
all cases of cataracts and pterygium. Thanks to the program, those
patients will get an aye surgery, after which they will be able to
recover their sight.
The Fair was held with the support of the Nursery School of the
Universidad Mayor de San Andres, in La Paz. During the event, free
medical consultations in all specialties were offered to low-income
local residents, according to a PL report.
Isabel Gomez, La Paz coordinator of the Cuba-Venezuela led Operation
Miracle program, said Bolivians are very grateful for the treatment
provided by Cuban doctors in the area.
She said the initiative allows numerous poor families, including those
living far from the cities to receive medical treatment and information
on different community-based health programs.
