Mexican Opposition Leader Calls for Unity
Mexico, Aug 27 (Prensa Latina) Mexican opposition leader Andres Manuel
Lopez Obrador called the people to unite around the movement he heads
to counter the political mafia that causes the country's impoverishment.
The former presidential candidate in the 2006 elections urged the
people to use peaceful civil resistance and non-violence to overthrow
the current government, which he described as "a rotten regime of
corruption and privileges."
Lopez Obrador noted that the movement of change he leads has enough
moral authority and will act responsibly, meaning that it will not
remain passive to the poverty, inequality and suffering of millions of
Mexicans.
During a tour of the southern state of Puebla that ended on Sunday, the
opposition leader charged that the media is in the hands of the right
wing; therefore, it does not echo the true problems of the nation.
He noted that the current administration is politically incapable of
promoting changes, because it is tied up by the powers that backed it
up in the July 2006 election fraud, so the government is busy paying
favors and invoices, he added.
