Mexico to Back US-Deported Emigre

Mexico, Aug 27 (Prensa Latina) The government reiterated Monday its
solidarity with Mexican activist Elvira Arellano, deported from the
United States, as well as support for her son, who is still in that
nation.

The Foreign Affairs Secretariat informed that Minister Patricia
Espinosa telephoned Arellano to express her support and that of the
federal administration.

Espinosa sent a letter to Arellano for actions the government must take
to back her in that difficult situation, separated from her son.

The minister reiterated that since the first day of his mandate,
President Felipe Calderon has given priority to the protection of
emigres the Foreign Affairs Ministry has carried out in United States,
through a network of 48 consulates.

The text of independence states that through the Institute of Mexican
Emigres abroad, the government will reinforce contacts, communication
and coordination with social organizations that foster migratory
reforms in the neighboring country.
