Yesaterday we sent out two items on the Cuban 5 prisoners in the US
that contained errors:

In correcting misstatements by CBS news in their report -- CBS News:
Cuban 5 "Heroes Await Their Fate" -- we mistakenly said that two of the
five were charged with conspiracy to commit murder. See:

Only one of the five, Gerardo Hernandez, was charged with "conspiracy
to commit murder." Gerardo is serving two life sentences, one for the
"conspiracy to commit murder" and the other for "conspiracy to commit
espionage." Gerardo, Ramon and Antonio are the three with life
sentences for conspiracy to commit espionage.

Also yesterday, an ACN report -- Int'l Committee for the Cuban 5
Launches New Campaign -- says "The starting day for the campaign was
set for the day (Sept 12, 1998) when the Cuban men were sentenced to
outrageous terms in prison for trying to collect information on
terrorist plans against Cuba drawn up by Miami-based hard-line
organizations..." See:

The five anti-terrorist agents were ARRESTED in 1998 (and held
without bail in deplorable and unconstituional conditions until their
trial). They were actually sentenced in December of 2001. The
sentencing was originally scheduled for September of 2001 but was
delayed after the events of September 11, 2001.

Thanks to Joan Malerich for these corrections.
