Algerian Prez for Peace Despite Attack

Algiers, Sep 7 (Prensa Latina) President of Algeria Abdelaziz Buteflika
said he will never move from the path of national reconciliation and
civil harmony offered to extremists despite attacks like that in Batna,
which killed 15.

The explosion occurred in front of the Al Atik Mosque in a crowd
waiting for the caravan of the president, who was concluding in Batna a
tour through the eastern region. Some 70 people were reported wounded
in the attack.

An hour after the explosion the president went to the hospital to learn
their situation.

Although no organization assumed responsibility for the bombing, local
media pointed out such attacks are notorious by the Al Qaeda in the
Islamic Maghreb.

Since April there have been five suicide attacks at official
headquarters, which have killed 30 and wounded 300 people.
