Resistance Pounds Iraqi Forces

Baghdad, Sep 9 (Prensa Latina) More than ten Iraqi policemen and
soldiers were killed and some others were wounded in insurgent attacks
in different regions of the Arab country on Sunday, while Prime
Minister Nuri al Maliki called for improving the nation's security. 

One of the deadliest attacks against the government forces was seen in
Balad city, north of the Iraqi capital, where at least 4 soldiers lost
their lives and 15 others were wounded in a truck bomb explosion in
front of a checkpoint  in a road linking that city with Baghdad, police
said. 

The death toll could rise since many wounded are in serious health
condition and rescue forces are still searching for possible victims
among the rubbles.

In Huyach neighborhood, Baiyi locality, in Salahedin province,
resistance forces attacked a police station, killing at least seven
agents and wounding two others after a fierce shooting.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nuri al Maliki called for improving Iraq's
security in the framework of the second conference of the neighboring
States aimed at finding a solution to the big challenges of this Arab
country.

The meeting is attended by delegates from Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey,
Kuwait, Iran, and Syria, apart from representatives of the UN Security
Council, the Arab League, and G-8.
