NATO Admits Responsibility in Afghan Deaths

Kabul, Oct 7 (Prensa Latina) The North Atlantic Treaty
Organization (NATO) recognized on Sunday that three Afghan civilians
were shot dead by occupation forces deployed in the Asian country.

In a note, spokesman for the International Security and
Assistance Force (ISAF), Charles Anthony, said civilians in Afghanistan
must pay attention and obey military orders to avoid such incidents.

The note added that NATO forces opened fire at a truck which
approached a base and failed to obey an order to stop. They claimed to
have been tipped of a possible attack using a similar vehicle. Two
people were killed in this incident.

On Saturday, another civilian, who was allegedly behaving
suspiciously as he approached a military convoy, was shot dead in
Paktia province.

At least 4,300 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in
Afghanistan so far this year during clashes between occupying forces
and insurgents.
