Venezuela House Clinches Constitution

Caracas, Oct 8 (Prensa Latina) The Venezuelan National Assembly
finalizes Monday the final debate of the constitutional reform project
presented by President Hugo Chavez. 

Together with the discussion of the project in the most several stages
of the national territory, the Joint Commission carries out the final
touches of the report, to analyze the initiative article by article. 

Later, the assembly's plenary session will be in charge of the study of
suggestions to modify the Constitution for its approval, prior to the
popular consultation the National Electoral Council will organize. 

The Parliament's President Cilia Flores stated that stage will take
into consideration the possibility to extend adjustments beyond the 33
articles predicted in the statesman's initiative. 

Among actions, the Congress carried out a
meeting with sectors from Apure, Guarico and Amazonas states, to
collect opinions and proposals on the project. 

The proposal is to change 33 articles of the Constitution, to
strengthen the construction of a socialist model in the country, and
also modify relevant issues like property, natural resources and
communal power, among others.
