Che, Latin American Son
Rosario, Argentina, Oct 10 (Prensa Latina) If there were ever an event
of great significance, it would be the 80th birthday of Che Guevara in
2008, Governor of the Argentinean province of Santa Fe, Jorge Obeid,
said.
In remarks to Prensa Latina, Obeid said that this is because besides
being an example of internationalism, Che was a quintessential Latin
American man, born in Argentina but familiar with different countries
in Latin America.
He recalled that Che visited Chile, Bolivia, Central America, Mexico
and, of course, he fought and was a triumphant revolutionary in Cuba.
In reference to the gathering today to mark the 40th anniversary of his
assassination, during which 2008 was proclaimed International Che Year
in Rosario, Obeid said it was also a tribute to all Latin Americans.
