Chinese Olympic Games Interpreters to Receive Training in Cuba

Havana, Oct 12 (acn) Chinese graduates in Spanish who will serve as 
interpreters at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games will shortly come to 
Cuba to receive additional training in that language.

The Chinese delegation is made of 20 university students chosen by 
Beijing's institutes of foreign languages taking into account their 
skills and their personal qualities. The Chinese delegates, who will 
stay in the island for four months, are part of the 100,000 volunteers 
in charge of helping or serving as tourist guides to the participants 
at Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Responding to the call of the Organizing Committee, some 560,000 
youngsters from China and other nations have applied to work as 
volunteers in the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Para-Olympic Games.

According to a report by the Organizing Committee of the events, 70,000 
volunteers will participate at the Olympic Games while another 30,000 
will take part in the Para-Olympic Games to be held in September 2008 
in Beijing.
