China Seeks to Validate Cuban Degrees

Havana, Oct 15 (acn) China's Vice Minister of Education, Zhao Quinping, 
presented this Monday a draft agreement proposing an accord to validate 
Cuban graduate certificates with the objective of facilitating 
bilateral collaboration with Cuba on education.

In a meeting with the Cuban Higher Education Minister, Juan Vela 
Valdes, in Havana, the Chinese official ratified the interest of his 
country to broaden educational exchanges as way to strengthen bilateral 
relations.

The Chinese minister extolled the quality of the Cuban education 
system, while thanking the Cuban authorities for the good life and 
study conditions given to the Chinese students in the island.

On his part, Vela spoke about details of the Spanish advanced course 
from which more than 200 Chinese will graduate this Monday. He added 
that the new graduates will continue their higher education studies in 
Cuba. Most of them will take medicine courses or English Language 
courses.

Vela explained that Cuba's method of teaching Spanish as a foreign 
language employs one professor for every ten students and it is based 
on computer interactive programs. There are also language labs, while 
students are given the chance to exchange with Cubans during visits to 
places of historical importance.
