China Values Science for Development

Beijing, Oct 15 (Prensa Latina) The 17th Congress of China's Communist
Party Monday extolled the scientific concept of development to open
prospects for socialism with Chinese characteristics.

The document, which reviews the work carried out in the last five years
and sets the goals of the Asian nation for the future, was read to the
2,213 delegates by the Chinese leader Hu Jintao.

According to that concept, development is the key task of the ruling
political organization.

It is necessary to make the best efforts toward integral scientific
development based on the human being's priority, added the text.

The document also says that a joint vision is needed to apply the
scientific concept, coordinating development between the city and the
country, and among regions, people, and nature.

"We not only should increase the material wealth of the society to
improve the peopleós standard of living, but also guarantee equality
and social justice to promote social harmony," said the text.
