Bolivia's President Signs Petition for Cuban Five Release

Havana, Oct 17 (acn) Bolivia's President Evo Morales joined the
international movement calling for the release of five Cuban
antiterrorist fighters imprisoned in the United States for more than
nine years.

The Bolivian leader added his name on Tuesday to a demand that has been
already signed by some 300 world figures from 30 countries including
Nobel Prize laureates Adolfo Perez Esquivel (Argentina), Nadine
Gordimer (South Africa), Wole Soyinka (Nigeria) and Zhores Alfiorov
(Russia), reported Prensa Latina news agency.

Known internationally as the Cuban Five, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon
Labañino, Rene Gonzalez, Fernando Gonzalez and Antonio Guerrero were
arrested and submitted to an irregularity-fraught trial in a biased
Miami courtroom after submitting evidence to US authorities of
terrorist plans organized against Cuba by Southern Florida-based
organizations.
