Support Efforts and Solidarity against State Terrorism

Kia ora koutou,

Thank you for all of the responses we have received and for standing in
solidarity with the indigenous peoples of Aotearoa in these times.

Currently I can say we are still in a state of shock, our homes having
been raided, our childrens buses being stormed by armed defenders,
equipments being confiscated, childrens clothes being confiscated as
potential evidence and a state unwilling to justify their actions.

The country and our international brothers and sisters are standing up
in our support for which we are very grateful.

We still have many causes to be concerned at present. All but one of the
current accused has been declined bail. In Aotearoa we have a two strike
you're out system. If a bail application is declined in the District
Court you may make an appeal to the High Court and if the application
is refused there the accused will remain in remand custody until the
time of trial. In this instance trial may not be for at least two years
given the gravity of the charges, the timeline of the police operation
and the number of accused.

This means there is a strong possibility that many of our young friends,
freedom fighters and social and environmental justice change makers
could face up to two years imprisonment with out trial.

There is still a lack of clarity as to whether further charges will be
laid. The police officers in my home told me that it was not clear
whether they will lay charges and this is also the case for a large
number of my friends. They do not need sufficient evidence under the
Terrorism Suppression Act to lay charges or detain us.

So fear is rampant however we have decided that because we have nothing
to hide that we will not be scared into complacency or silence. We will
fight against the abuse of these state powers because we must.

Protests have been organized nationally with thousands getting out on
the streets in support of those detained, support for families is a
priority with monies, food and travel costs being appealed for, appeals
are being made to the United Nations and basic information is being
disseminated and quick as we can write it up.

We are dealing with families and communities without financial means.
Court costs and financial aid for food, travel and accommodation for
families are urgent financial needs. Therefore we are committed to
raising as much support for the families effected by the raids as
possible, whether this be food, clothes, monies and rallying attention
for submissions to be made to the Prime Minister of New Zealand, the
Minister of Police and the Police Commissioner.

Below are details for ways of sending any support and websites for
finding out further information.

Again we thank you for your support and solidarity, it means a lot to
many peoples here.

Nga mihi, Kiritapu Allan
