CentAm for End of US Cuba Blockade

Guatemala, Oct 25 (Prensa Latina) Central American political leaders
and deputies called the US blockade against Cuba unfair and criminal,
and demanded its end.

"This is the longest blockade in contemporary history, and also the
most inhuman act against a people that has decided to defend its
self-determination and independence," prestigious Guatemalan politician
Ricardo Rosales told Prensa Latina.

The veteran leader of that country's Labor Party condemned the US
government's increasing hostility against Cuba and other countries, and
recalled the blockade has been maintained despite the increasing number
of United Nations that call for its end.

"Continuing with that aggressive policy is unfair and a serious
violation of international decisions," the Salvadorian deputy of the
Central American Parliament (PARLACEN), Nidia Diaz, stated.

"It is a discredited, isolated policy that has no future. It has
remained only due to the US leaders' obstinacy," PARLACEN deputy
Nicaraguan Jacinto Suarez affirmed.

The legislators, who are attending PARLACEN sessions in the Guatemalan
capital, praised the Cuban people's willpower which, despite
adversities, has allowed for major achievements in health, education,
sports, and other spheres.

They also rated as priceless the Cuban people's solidarity aid to many
countries of Central and South America, Africa, and Asia.
