Salvadoram Leader Heads for US

San Salvador, Nov 26 (Prensa Latina) Salvadorian President Antonio Saca
leaves for the US Monday, where he expects to deal with issues of
bilateral interest with his counterpart, George W. Bush, including the
questioned stay of Salvadorian troops in Iraq.

In a Sunday radio message, Saca announced he will meet with Bush on
Thursday at the White House.

Saca will first talk with Organization of American States General
Secretary Jose Miguel Insulza, and World Bank President Robert Zoellick.

Washington considers the Salvadorian government as one of its main
allies in Latin America, a region where US administrations have
historically maintained domination interests.

Official sources revealed the two presidents will also deal with the so
called ó Merida Initiative, ó a plan that, according to analysts,
represents a new US stratagem to increase its military presence in the
area.

El Salvador is the only Latin American country with military troops in
Iraq, though its presence has been ever more questioned by the national
public opinion.

Saca will leave the government with two ongoing wars impossible to be
won: one in Iraq, and the other in El Salvador's streets, a local daily
commented recently.
