Magic Festival Wraps Up in Eastern Cuba

Las Tunas, Nov 26 (acn) The company "Soñar Despierto" (Daydreaming), 
from Varadero, was awarded the Grand Prix at the 13th annual Magic 
Festival Anfora (Anphora) that wrapped up Sunday in eastern Las Tunas 
city.

After six days of competitions and presentations by over a hundred 
magicians from eleven Cuban provinces, the jury praised their 
performances and granted the highest award to "Soñar Despierto" for 
their technical quality, rhythm, production, and varied program.

Other awards went to magicians Sabina for best female performance and 
Silva in the Great Illusions category, both from Matanzas province.

Niuver Alonso got the prize for manipulation and was chosen best young 
participant by the Asociacion Hermanos Saiz arts group.

The company Variedades from Santiago de Cuba won the prize for best 
show for children, while Andres Fernandez won the general magic award 
and Julio Cesar Velez walked away with the prize for best small 
illusions.

The best card tricks were performed by Jose Rafael Alvarez, and Omar 
Badyud was awarded for best close-up magic.
