Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has denounced new plans to kill him
before [the end of] this year.

In an interview broadcast on national Venezolana de Television (VTV),
Chavez said: "two weeks ago... in a Central American embassy, someone
said that an assassination attempt against me is to be carried out
before [the end of] this year.'

The President said that movements of people linked to terrorist Luis
Posada Carriles have been detected ... the CIA-trained killer remains
free in the United States.

Retired General Ramon Guillen Davila and his son are already in prison,
accused of developing assassination plans and acting in complicity with
"people in Miami and Central America."

President Chavez also said that during a recent event, light traces on
his body were detected, such as those used by telescopic (laser)
sights... [and] that the incident is under investigation.

"The most crazy minds are thinking of leading us into a civil war to
justify United States intervention ... we are trying to avoid it!"
