Bush: Not Only the Worst, But Also the Biggest Liar

By Angel Rodriguez Alvarez
AIN Special Service

Amid the speculations about the surprising and unexpected resignation
of Fran Towsend, advisor to Bush on terrorism, another scandal has
erupted involving the US leader and some of his main cabinet members.
The incident occurred after the revelations of former White House Press
Secretary Scott McClellan who accused Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney,
Cabinet Chief, Andrew H. Card and former political advisor, Karl Rove
of having giving him false information for him to lie to the press
about the identity of former CIA secret agent Valerie Plane, considered
a very serious crime in the US. In the book entitled: "What happened:
Inside the Bush White House and What's Wrong with Washington",
McClellan, Presidential spokesperson from July 2003 until April of
2006, has revealed details of this dark episode. "The most powerful
leader in the world asked me to speak on his behalf and to help him
recover his credibility lost due to the failure of the search for
weapons of mass destruction in Iraq". McClellan talks about a press
conference in which he said that advisors Karl Rove and Lewis "Scooter"
Libby were not involved in the leak of the identity of the CIA agent.
This move was apparently a reprisal against the agent's husband Joseph
Wilson a high ranking official who was critical of Washington's
invasion of Iraq and refused to report, for lack of evidence, about the
existence of Saddam Hussein's attempt to purchase uranium from Niger.
"I was on the podium at the White House Press Room for two weeks and I
exonerated two of the most important White House aids. There was one
problem, said McClellan, it was not the truth. Without knowing it I
gave out false information and five of the government's highest ranking
authorities were involved: Rove, Libby, the Vice President, the
Presidential Secretary and the President himself". You may recall,
Libby was the only one sentenced to two years and a half and did not
serve a single day in jail because he was pardoned by Bush.

For now the political consequences of this episode for the republicans
in the elections in 2008 are unpredictable and even for Bush's
continuation in the Oval Office. Many analysts speculate on how far
this scandal will go. What has been revealed so far is just an
extract, as part of a marketing strategy to generate expectations about
the book launch scheduled for April of 2008. What was advanced by
McClellan gives no details on how Bush and Cheney were involved in the
scandal, nor reveals what happened behind closed doors. Now the
intrigue will grow to unsuspected levels, much to the uneasiness of
those in question, as there is still six months to the launch.

How much more dirt about Bush will come to light? Will the Democrats be
ready to exploit these serious revelations in their favor until W. is
out of the White House?

Remember Watergate: is a saying worthy of note! Nixon was kicked out
into the street for lying, ending his political career.
