Cuba to Premiere Documentary on Missile Crisis

HAVANA, Dec 12 (acn) The first part of a Cuban-Swedish documentary on 
the Cuban Missile Crisis will premiere on Wednesday in the western 
Cuban town of San Cristobal.

San Cristobal, located 72 kilometers from Havana in the province of 
Pinar del Rio, was one of the places chosen to position the R-12 Soviet 
missiles during the events that pushed the world to the verge of 
nuclear war in October 1962.

The documentary, which aims at reviving the historical event, is
scheduled to be broadcast in 2009 by the Telesur Latin American TV
network.

The compilation of texts and images is carried out by producers of a 
Swedish TV channel, along with two Swedish universities and the Cuban 
Institute of Anthropology.

The premier will be attended by representatives of the documentary's 
production staff and prestigious Cuban historians from San Cristobal.

The film includes interviews and anthropological evidence related to 
the event from material, geodynamic and hydrographical points of view.
