Cuban Campaign Against AIDS Highlighted at International Congress

HAVANA, Dec 12 (acn) Achievements in the treatment of HIV/AIDS patients 
with antiretroviral therapy in Cuba will be one of the main topics of 
discussion on Wednesday at the Third International Conference on 
Pharmacology and Therapeutics, underway in this capital.

According the World Health Organization (WHO), the rate of prevalence 
reported among the Cuban sexually active population is one of the 
lowest on the planet.

WHO also highlighted Cuba's preventive campaign against HIV/AIDS and 
the comprehensive healthcare program implemented for zero-positive 
patients, which includes treatment free-of-charge.

The conference, which aims to exchange experiences in the field, is 
been attended by some 400 delegates, including prestigious specialists 
from Spain, Germany and Canada.

Pharmacology is the biological science that studies the effect of
medicines on the body. It constitutes the basis of therapeutics and 
aims to heal patients through rational and strict treatment.
