Suicide Explosion Kills 13 Soldiers in Pakistan

Islamabad, Dec 17 (Prensa Latina) Thirteen soldiers died and 11 others
were wounded on Monday in a suicide bomb attack in the Pakistani city
of Kohat, in the North-western Frontier Province, confirmed a military
source in this capital.

General Shaukat Sultan told press that the victims were army recruits
returning to their military unit from a soccer game when a suicide
bomber blew himself up.

The spokesman of the Army, Maj. Gen. Waheed Arshad, confirmed the
information on the incident saying that the young recruits were walking
back to their quarters along a public road near an army communications
center in Kohat when a lone bomber walked up to them and set off the
blast.

Pakistan has suffered a string of suicide attacks in recent days, most
of them targeting military bases and security checkpoints.

This is the second attack of this type in three days in the Pakistani
region bordering with Afghanistan.

On Saturday, a suicide bomber on a bicycle killed two soldiers and
three civilians outside an army camp in the north-western city of
Nowshera.
