First Community of 100 PVC Houses Built in Cienfuegos
Havana, Dec 17 (acn) Cuba is one of the first Latin American countries
- only behind Venezuela - that has benefited from the construction of
PVC houses.
Using this modern method, 100 houses have been built in only 60 days in
the Simon Bolivar community in central Cienfuegos province, only a few
kilometers away from the Camilo Cienfuegos Oil Refinery.
According to Juan Enrique Romero Hurtado, director of the Training
Center for Constructors of PVC Houses in Venezuela, they intend to
continue developing and using this technology as these type of houses
can last from 50 to 100 years, at least.
Romero Hurtado told ACN that costs are reduced as the construction of
one PVC house takes only 10 days and also because maintenance is also
inexpensive considering that they do not need paint.
The specialist explained that the materials used in the construction of
these houses are panels of PVC, a non-flammable and non-toxic
derivative of oil that also protects from ultraviolet rays.
In Venezuela, the construction of PVC houses began in the state of
Carabobo and they have begun to spread this modern technique to other
Latin American countries.
