Iran Wary of US NIE Report on Nuclear Program
Teheran, Dec 17 (Prensa Latina) Moderate optimism, circumspection,
scepticism, and indifference have marked the reaction of the Iranian
political leadership to a recent report by 16 US intelligence services
on the Iranian nuclear program.
Though the report leaves US President George W. Bush without pretext to
justify pressures, economic sanctions, and invasion threats, its
careful reading leaves multiple considerations in the air.
The large intelligence text disclosed several weeks ago concluded that
there is evidence proving Iran had stopped an alleged nuclear arms
program in 2003.
Right after its publication, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said
the report was "the bullet that has ended the aspirations of the
enemies."
"The enemies are the ones who hamper progress and the honor of nations,
and always have an excuse, which this time has been the Iranian
denuclearization issue," he stressed.
The US intelligence report is "the result of the patience, tenacity,
and resistance of the Iranian government and people to exert its
inalienable right, affirmed the Iranian vice president for legal and
parliamentary affairs, Seyyed Ahmadi Musavi.
