Cuba Helps Venezuela Coasts
Caracas, Dec 19 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan authorities have expressed
satisfaction for the good implementation of a project for the recovery
of the over 745.6 miles of coasts, supported by national institutions
and Cuban experts.
The report on results of related works in 2007 highlights the efforts
of 500 experts on coastal management, trained as result of an agreement
signed with Cuba in 2004.
During a meeting to review the 2008 plans, Sergio Rodriguez, the
general director for Environmental Planning at the environment
ministry, indicated the ultimate objective is to focus attention on all
Venezuelan states with coastal zones, to recover those with severe
environmental problems.
To achieve that goal, everything related to necessary investments to
benefit populations with beaches has been studied, with 14 areas of the
national territory to be controlled by a regional technical committee
each.
