Cuba's Triumph of the Revolution Marked in Viet Nam

Havana, Dec 28 (acn) Ho Chi Minh City's Union of Friendship 
Organizations and Viet Nam-Cuba Friendship Association celebrated this 
Friday the 49th National Day of Cuba (Jan. 1).

Both vice president of the HCM City Union of Friendship Organizations, 
Le Chi Thanh, and Cuban Consul General in the city, Iliana Hernandez, 
said they were delighted at the positive developments in the Viet 
Nam-Cuba special fraternity and comprehensive cooperation, as reported 
by the Vietnamese news agency.

Thanh singled out the participation of Cuban experts in major projects 
in his country. He mentioned the Ho Chi Minh Highway, the Thu Thiem 
bridge, and the Trung Luong-HCM City Expressway as vivid evidence of 
the special fraternity between the two nations.

Congratulating the Cuban people for its great achievements in 2007, he 
wished them further successes in national construction and defense, and 
extended best regards to President Fidel Castro.

Thanh also said the city's residents strongly condemned the US 
government's blockade against Cuba, and proposed the immediate lifting 
of the sanction.

In related news, the Vietnamese news agency reported that the two 
countries will continue to strengthen their cooperation in economy and 
trade, according to statements by Cuban Ambassador to Viet Nam, Jesus 
Aise Sotolongo, at a ceremony marking the 49th National Day of Cuba.

Participants at the event recalled their memories of the cooperation 
between Cuban and Vietnamese people during their past struggle for 
independence as well as in the present national construction.
